The Verkhovna Rada has passed a law that significantly limits the amount of pensions for people convicted of crimes against Ukraine’s national security.

The bill No. 10355 was supported by 244 MPs, Ukrinform reports , "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

From now on, such persons will be able to receive a pension no higher than the subsistence minimum for disabled persons – UAH 2,361.

The restrictions will apply to people convicted of:

  • high treason
  • collaborationism,
  • aiding and abetting the aggressor state,
  • sabotage and espionage,
  • encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine,
  • violent change of power or state system,
  • obstructing the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations.

The law is aimed at fairly limiting social guarantees for those who acted against the state, its sovereignty and security.
