Putin threatens the West if Ukraine is allowed to strike deep into Russia
13 September 09:21Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin has said that strikes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces against Russia with long-range weapons would mean direct involvement of Western countries in the war, as Ukraine is allegedly unable to find targets on its own without Western intelligence. This is reported by Russian media, Komersant Ukrainian informs
This is the first time Putin has commented on reports that the US and European countries will allow the Ukrainian Armed Forces to strike Russia with high-precision Western weapons.
“The use of Western long-range precision weapons against Russia will mean direct participation of NATO countries in the fighting in Ukraine,” he said.
The Kremlin dictator said that “the Ukrainian army is not able to use such weapons, because it is possible only with the use of satellite intelligence. Only NATO and the US can provide it. If this happens, the West will be directly involved in the fighting.
“It’s about making a decision whether NATO countries are directly involved in a military conflict or not. If this decision is made, it will mean nothing less than the direct participation of NATO countries, the United States, and European countries in the war in Ukraine,” Putin threatened.
According to him, if the West helps Ukraine to strike deep into Russia, “the very essence of the conflict will change” and the Kremlin will make appropriate decisions based on the threats that will be created for us.
Earlier , President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the decision to provide Ukraine with long-range weapons depends on four specific countries: The United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.
Western weapons and permits for their use
As you know, the United States(and Germany after them) allow the use of weapons provided by them only for strikes on the border territories of Russia. This permission was granted by US President Joe Biden only at the end of May, and before that, strikes on Russian territory with US weapons were generally prohibited.
However, towards the end of June, unofficial statements were heard from the US side that the restrictions “do not apply to geography or a certain radius”. This means that Ukraine is allegedly able to strike at those facilities and territories from which attacks on Ukraine are directly directed, even if they are deeper than the border areas.
Experts say that border strikes will not change the situation at the front, so Zelenskyy is asking his partners for permission to use their weapons on Russian territory. Some Western countries have already given such permission.
