Prosecutor demands to send Nasirov into custody

the Prosecutor sent a petition to the court to change the measure of restraint of the former Chairman of the State fiscal service Roman Nasirov.

The Prosecutor insists on changing the measure of restraint to a stricter, namely detention with the alternative of bail in the amount of 75 million hryvnia.

In the SAP noted that on April 9, the suspect did not appear in court, and his defender filed a motion to suspend the proceedings in connection with the mobilization of Nasirov.

“The case is at the final stage of consideration – court debates, after which the court must issue a verdict. However, the mobilization of one of the defendants will lead to the delay of the case, as a result, he may avoid responsibility,” – said in the Prosecutor’s office.

Nasirov said that he learned about the cancellation of his mobilization from social networks, and called it a “strange precedent”.

What is known about the Nasirov case
According to the investigation, Roman Nasirov received more than 722 million hryvnias of bribes, for which he had to provide VAT refunds to legal entities controlled by the owner of the agroholding of more than 3.2 billion hryvnias. The investigation does not name names, however, according to media reports, we are talking about oligarch Oleg Bakhmatyuk, who is the owner of UkrLandFarming.

In addition, in November 2017, Nasirov was served with another indictment. According to the version of the investigation, Nasirov gave permission for alternating payments of tax debts to the enterprises of the people’s Deputy Oleksandr Onishchenko. Thereby caused damage to the budget for 2 billion hryvnia, according to the Specialized anti-corruption Prosecutor’s office.

In May 2024, Nasirov was bailed in the amount of 55,000,592 hryvnias, and he was released from custody, where he has been since October 31, 2022.
