Weather forecast for December 12: no snowfall in Ukraine, but frost

Today, December 12, the weather in Ukraine is not very pleasant. The snowfall will be replaced by an anticyclone from the west, which will bring some warming and, as a result, puddles and mud underfoot. However, on the night of December 13, Ukraine will experience the first significant frosts. This was reported by weather forecaster Natalia Didenko, Komersant ukrainskyi reports
“At night, the cyclone will still resist, and in the afternoon of December 12, it will leave an atmospheric front in the eastern regions, so there will be rains and sleet, but still this afternoon in most regions of Ukraine there will be no significant precipitation. Wind is expected from the northwest, moderate, sometimes strong. Be careful,” the forecaster wrote.
According to her, the air temperature at night will be 0-4 degrees below zero, in the south from 1 below zero to 3 above zero. And during the day on Thursday, it is expected to be from 3 degrees below zero to 3 degrees above zero.
However, starting today, it will start to get colder, with more “minuses”, so the roads will become very slippery. This should be taken into account by both pedestrians and drivers.
Didenko notes that on December 13, a significant cold snap is expected in most regions of Ukraine. “In Kyiv, there will be sleet overnight, no precipitation this afternoon. The wind is northwest, gusty. The air temperature at night and during the day will be 0-2 degrees below zero. On December 13-14, it will get colder to moderate frost in the capital.
According to the Ukrainian Weather Center, on December 12, the weather in Ukraine will remain winter-cold with typical seasonal phenomena. The weather is expected to be mostly cloudy across the country.
Light precipitation in the form of snow will occur in most areas, while moderate rain with sleet is forecast in the south and east. In the central regions and Kharkiv region, ice and sleet may form at night. At the same time, significant precipitation is not expected during the day in the northern, western, Vinnytsia and Cherkasy regions.
Ice is likely on the roads of Ukraine, except in the south and southeast, so drivers and pedestrians should be careful. The wind will be northwest at a speed of 7-12 m/s, which will contribute to significant cooling.
Temperatures will range from 4 degrees below zero to 1 degree above zero in most areas. In the southern and southeastern regions, it will be slightly warmer – from 0 to 5 degrees Celsius. In the highlands of the Carpathians, the real winter chill will remain: 3-8 degrees below zero at night and 1-6 degrees below zero during the day.
