Priority to domestic: Ukrainian soldiers will eat Ukrainian fish products

The first auction for the supply of domestically produced fish products to supply the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been held. This was reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, Komersant ukrainskyi reports
The auction was held on the Prozorro platform. It was announced by the State Logistics Operator (DOT).
What was presented at the auction
Domestic manufacturers had the opportunity to compete for four lots:
Lot No. 1 “Saithe, cod” – the auction did not take place, no bidders applied.
Lot No. 2 “Tovstolob” (UAH 26,880.00) was bid by 2 participants (PE “Poseidon Plus”, LLC “Chornomor Moreproduct”). The winner is Poseidon Plus PE (UAH 26,308.78).
Lot No. 3 “Carp” (UAH 70 400.00) was submitted by 3 bidders (PE “Poseidon Plus”, LLC “Chernomor Moreproduct”, LLC “Fishman Trading”). The winner is Poseidon Plus PE (UAH 66,400.00).
Lot No. 4 “Trout” (UAH 693,268.80). The winner is Fishman Trading LLC (UAH 663,768.00). There was only one bidder.
What was special about this auction?
According to Vitalii Koval, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the results of the auction spoke for themselves: there were no bidders for the imported saithe and cod lot, but there was active competition among suppliers for the lots containing Ukrainian silver carp, carp and trout.
The minister reminded that in 2024, Ukraine purchased more than $1 billion worth of foreign fish, and this is when domestic producers are ready to close government orders with Ukrainian fish.
Galyna Litosh, Director of the State Logistics Operator’s Food Program, emphasized that DOT supports the initiative of Ukrainian fish producers and said that proposals have already been submitted to expand the catalog’s nomenclature with new items of fish produced in Ukraine.
“Fish products are not unique. However, Ukrainian products have a number of features that may be more favorable than their imported counterparts. At the very least, the flexibility of the supply chain is higher and delivery times are shorter,” said Halyna Litosh.
Ukrainian producers have something to offer
In 2024, the production of aquaculture products in Ukraine increased by almost 22% to 18,621 tons.
As previously reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, the leaders in production were Cherkasy (4,400 tons), Lviv (1,543 tons), Khmelnytsky (1,517 tons), Kirovohrad (1,456 tons) and Sumy (1,403 tons) regions.
The main types of fish are carp (8,896 tons), silver carp (4,434 tons), white carp (637 tons), pike perch (1,854 tons), salmon (396 tons), catfish (273 tons), pike (211 tons), and sturgeon (72 tons).
Food caviar production amounted to 4,280.5 kg.
DOT improves procurement procedures
The State Logistics Operator has unveiled a new functionality of the annual procurement plan covering all areas of supplying the Armed Forces of Ukraine: food, clothing and fuel and lubricants.
From now on, potential suppliers can familiarize themselves with the approximate timing of procurement announcements and delivery dates in a more convenient format – through a functional dashboard. All information is available on the DOT website in the “Suppliers” section.
This should ensure continuity of supply to the army. And businesses will be able to adapt their production processes and logistics to the needs of defense in advance, as they will know when and what they need.
