President changes composition of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has changed the composition of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff. This was reported by the with reference to the Office of the President of Ukraine.

It is reported that the President signed Decree No. 83/2024.

According to it, the following persons are approved as members of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief‘s Staff:

  • Bargylevych Anatoliy Vladyslavovych – Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
  • Pavliuk Oleksandr Oleksiyovych – Commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Also, the former Commander of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Maksym Myrhorodskyi was removed from the Staff.

The decree came into force on the day of its publication.

Reshuffle in the Armed Forces of Ukraine

On 8 February, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyy and appointed General Oleksandr Syrskyy as the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

According to Zelenskyy, Syrskyi has successful experience in defence, having led the Kyiv defence operation, and successful experience in offence, having led the Kharkiv liberation operation.

The President believes that 2024 can be successful for Ukraine only if there are effective changes in the basis of our defence, which is the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Zelenskyy also changed the command of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Anatoliy Bargylevych was appointed as the new chief.

Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavliuk will now command the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine instead of Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi .

The President dismissed Serhiy Nayev from the post of Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Yuriy Sodol was appointed to this post.

Zelenskyy replaced the commander of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This position was held by Maksym Myrhorodskyi. Ihor Skybyuk became the new commander.

Ihor Plakhuta became the commander of the Terrorist Defence Forces.
