President told how many people are fighting in the Armed Forces

Almost a million Ukrainian servicemen are resisting Russian aggression, as well as 30 million Ukrainians who are also bringing our victory closer at their workplaces. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with the German TV channel ARD, according to 
“…We have 880 thousand. We have a million-strong army. And at the same time, we have 30 million people now, 30 million people are working right now, and maybe even a little more. I cannot say the exact number,”
– the President said.
He noted that it is difficult to establish the exact number of people who left the country at the beginning of the war – approximately 6.5-7.5 million people.
“So we are talking about all the people who are in Ukraine. And they all defend Europe and the world. Absolutely. At their workplaces,”
– Zelensky added.
The President expressed his gratitude to all those who returned to Ukraine, not only to participate in hostilities, but also to rebuild the country.
The size of the Ukrainian army
At the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the Ukrainian Armed Forces had about 700,000 personnel, and the entire defence sector had one million. This was reported by the then Minister of Defence Oleksiy Reznikov.
As of October 2023, the total number of troops was over 850,000, including approximately 820,000 servicemen (about 117,000 officers, about 178,000 sergeants, and 516,000 soldiers).
In December 2023, Zelenskyy said that almost 600,000 soldiers of various branches of the Armed Forces were fighting in the Land Forces.
It is also known that the number of women in the Armed Forces of Ukraine has increased by 40% in two years and amounts to almost 43,000 servicewomen.
