President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed Bill No. 9316, which will allow officers to be reinstated in rank during martial law. This was reported by Komersant ukrainskyi citing the Telegram channel of MP Oleksiy Honcharenko.
“This is my bill, and I have long defended this right for our military. Now this injustice has been corrected to ensure that the Armed Forces are manned by professionally competent officers with real combat experience,” Goncharenko wrote.
The purpose of the document is to reinstate the ranks of servicemen who have been deprived of their military ranks in the past through disciplinary action for exemplary performance of duties and combat missions in order to use their professional, organisational skills, military and special training, combat experience, etc. during martial law.
“This will ensure that the Armed Forces are manned by professionally competent officers with real combat experience, which will strengthen the state’s defence potential,” the text of the draft law reads.
