The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has authorised the State Border Service of Ukraine to receive electronic data from all state registers and databases regarding citizens travelling outside the country. In particular, border guards will now also have access to information with restricted access. This was announced by the representative of the Government in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk, informs Komersant ukrainskyi
Changes to the Rules of crossing the state border were introduced during the regular meeting of the Government on Friday, 9 August.
“Amendments were made to the Rules of crossing the state border by citizens of Ukraine in order to provide security bodies of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine in the implementation of border control at checkpoints access to information and reference systems, registers and data banks, the owner (administrator) of which are public authorities or local authorities,” – stated in the message.
Melnychuk noted that information from registers and databases will be used when checking the documents of citizens who want to leave Ukraine.
The SPSU will receive the information electronically, free of charge and in compliance with the legislation on the protection of personal data.
As reported by Kommersant Ukrainian , since 17 July, border guards have been checking the military registration documents of all male Ukrainian citizens aged between 18 and 60 when they cross the border to leave Ukraine.
In an interview with Kommersant Ukraina , Andriy Demchenko said whether an electronic military registration document can fully replace a paper one, what the queues are like at the border with Ukraine , and shared information on how to avoid traffic jams at checkpoints.
Demchenko reminded that on the page of the Western Regional Directorate in Facebook every three hours is published the state of congestion of checkpoints in the west, so that people can familiarise themselves with the situation and choose the least congested checkpoints.
