On Monday, the world-famous French resort town of Cannes experienced heavy rainfall that caused flash flooding that swept cars through the streets and forced authorities to issue a high alert.
There were no casualties this time, but the city is on high alert as a similar storm in 2015 killed 19 people and caused massive power outages.

Cannes Mayor David Lisnard said that the city authorities received a government warning about the storm only an hour after it started, so he will demand explanations from the relevant authorities, Reuters reports. As of this morning, the situation has begun to stabilise.
Similar floods earlier this month killed at least 17 people in other parts of Europe, including Romania and Poland, becoming one of the worst natural disasters in the region in two decades.
