US Embassy in Ukraine will be temporarily headed by Julie Davis: what is known about her

Julie Davis has been appointed Chargé d’Affaires of the United States in Ukraine. This is reported on the website of the US Embassy in Kyiv, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

Davis will take up her duties on May 5.

“In this position, she will work tirelessly to end the war and stop the bloodshed, strengthening bilateral relations, making America and Ukraine safer, stronger, and more prosperous,” the statement reads.

She will serve until US President Donald Trump and the State Department decide on a permanent ambassador to Ukraine.

What is known about Julie Davis

Prior to her appointment, Davis was the US Ambassador to Cyprus, and before that, the US Special Representative for Belarus. Previously, she was one of the Deputy Secretaries of State, specializing in Western Europe and the European Union, and was Deputy Permanent Representative of the United States to NATO.

In April, US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink, who had been in Kyiv since May 2022, resigned from her post.

To recap, US President Donald Trump has fired his National Security Advisor Mike Waltz. His duties will be temporarily performed by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
