Ukraine’s Ambassador to Belarus Kyzym resigns

7 February 22:33

Ambassador-at-large to Belarus of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ihor Kyzym is resigning from the diplomatic service. The diplomat announced this on his Facebook page, Komersant ukrainskyi reports

“Today, solely for personal reasons, I decided to resign from the diplomatic service and take a “well-deserved rest”. Every person comes to a time when you realize that age takes its toll and you cannot fully devote yourself to your work. But I cannot work otherwise and in the current conditions I consider it unfair to the service to which I have devoted almost all my life,” Kyzym wrote.

The ambassador also emphasized that he does not plan to rest without being active, believing that his experience and knowledge can be useful in other areas.

“Coincidentally, today Ukrinform published my interview, which contains many of my own, perhaps controversial, assessments of the “Belarusian affairs” to which I have devoted many years of my diplomatic life. I hope that someone will find them useful in understanding the situation in/around Belarus, as well as its possible development. I think this is also a certain summary of my “public” work in the post I am leaving. We’ll see what happens next,” Kyzym said.

The former ambassador did not specify any details, but said that he could be useful in areas where he could use his experience.
