19 December 15:21The Ministry of Defense is working on the introduction of adaptive clothing at the request of servicemen who have been injured at the front and are undergoing treatment, as well as military doctors. This was reported by the defense ministry, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
The proposed set of adaptive clothing consists of several items. These are pants, shorts, a T-shirt, and a long and short-sleeved shirt. Technical specifications with requirements for adaptive clothing items that potential manufacturers must adhere to when sewing are currently being finalized.
This was discussed at a meeting of the Collegial Body of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on the development of material support.
It is reported that two stages of testing of such clothing have already been carried out, based on the results of which the comments of the military who have already worn it have been taken into account.
The main characteristics of these items are as follows:
– widened legs and sleeves on the jackets;
– textile fasteners (Velcro) that facilitate dressing the wounded and, if necessary, can be fully unfastened on the shoulders and sides;
– additional volume adjustment at the bottom of the trouser legs and at the bottom of the sleeves of the jackets, as well as additional adjustments on the waistband of trousers and shorts with a cord;
– pockets on the shorts and pants.
This clothing is needed to make everyday life more comfortable for the military with injured limbs and other wounds, to meet their everyday needs and to carry out medical procedures.
Clothing for the military is not a trifle
The Ministry of Defense monitors the quality and comfort of the uniforms and whether they meet the needs of women and men serving in the military.
In November of this year, the Ministry started testing new samples of women’s uniforms, including demi-season and winter uniforms. Women’s military clothing differs from men’s in terms of shape and complexity of cut. As the Ministry of Defense emphasizes, different forms of clothing are one of the components of equality between women and men during service.
And two days ago, on December 17, a new survey on available samples of women’s and men’s military uniforms was launched in the Army app.
There are 15 questions in the survey. Some of them are open-ended and explore how comfortable military clothing is now. Servicemen and women can also leave suggestions to make the uniforms even more comfortable and durable.
The survey is conducted separately for men and women. It will last for 14 days. The results will be used to prepare updated samples of clothing for the military and future procurement.
