More than 200 thousand unemployed Ukrainians have already joined the “Army of Restoration”

Since the launch of the Army of Recovery project, more than 200,000 referrals have been issued to temporarily unemployed Ukrainians who are joining the country’s reconstruction efforts. This was reported by the State Employment Service, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
As noted in the report, the project started in the fall of 2022 and during this time, its participants have already been paid wages in the amount of more than UAH 1.6 billion.
The State Employment Service also notes that participation in the “Army of Recovery” is not only temporary employment, but also a chance for people to find a permanent job. It is important that some project participants have received offers from employers and have found permanent jobs.
Currently, socially useful work is being carried out in 19 regions of Ukraine. The most active project participants are:
Kharkiv region – 32 thousand referrals;
Donetsk region – 24 thousand referrals;
Kyiv region – 23 thousand referrals;
Chernihiv region – 22 thousand referrals;
Poltava region – 22 thousand referrals.
What is the “Army of Restoration”?
This is a government project aimed not only at providing financial support to people who lost their jobs due to the war, but also at actively engaging them in restoration and socially useful work.
As the Ministry of Economy explains, these can be works aimed at meeting the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as at ensuring the general needs of the economy and the population.
In particular, this may include
– clearing rubble and restoring buildings damaged as a result of hostilities,
– procurement of firewood for the military and the population,
– unloading humanitarian aid,
– strengthening dams,
– clearing debris from highways,
– providing assistance to internally displaced persons, people with disabilities and the elderly.
The list of such works depends on the needs of a particular region. For example, in Sumy, Chernihiv and Kharkiv regions, the Army of Restoration soldiers were involved in the construction of fortifications, helping the military in digging trenches, dugouts and restoring shelters. In the Khmelnytsky region, they were engaged in weaving nets, packing and distributing humanitarian aid, etc.
Members of the “Army of Restoration” sign fixed-term employment contracts for the period of work. The period of participation in such work is included in the labor and insurance record. Remuneration is 1.5 times the minimum wage, which is currently equal to UAH 12,000 for a full month of work.
