More than UAH 100 thousand: these were the salaries of the heads of most government agencies in January

Out of 79 government agencies whose salaries are published by the Ministry of Finance, 41 received salaries of more than UAH 100,000 in January. Information on the salaries of officials is published on the Ministry’s website, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.

Who leads in the salary competition

The highest salary in January was paid to the management of the State Financial Monitoring Service – UAH 423.5 thousand.

Next are the heads of departments with salaries of more than UAH 200 thousand. These are the executives:

Secretariat of the National Tripartite Social and Economic Council – UAH 232.3 thousand.

NAPC – UAH 230.9 thousand.

State Tax Service – UAH 211.9 thousand.

State Agency for Tourism Development – UAH 202.6 thousand.

For the sake of completeness, we can add that the lowest salaries in January were paid to the management:

State Customs Service – UAH 47.1 thousand,

National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting – UAH 57.3 thousand

National Mediation and Reconciliation Service – UAH 59.3 thousand.

In total, over UAH 53 million was spent on salaries of 498 heads of state agencies (excluding the security and defense sector) in January.

Government agencies leading in terms of average salaries

The highest average salary is in the Antimonopoly Committee – UAH 76.0 thousand. It employs 266 people.

The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption is in second place with UAH 75.8 thousand. It employs 355 people.

The next is the Secretariat of the National Tripartite Social and Economic Council – UAH 66.6 thousand (9 people).

The National Securities and Stock Market Commission pays UAH 66.3 thousand (223 people).

The National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Public Utilities employs 525 people, with an average salary of UAH 65,100.

What about average salaries across the country?

According to the data released by the Pension Fund, in December 2024, the average salary in the country was UAH 21,698.99.

In general, in 2024, the average salary was recorded at UAH 17,486.60.

As noted in the NBU’s January 2025 Macroeconomic and Monetary Review, wages continue to grow at a high rate due to a shortage of workers.

According to the State Statistics Service, nominal wages grew by 22.3% yoy in the third quarter of 2024, while real wages grew by 14.2% yoy (NBU calculations based on SSSU data).

In most economic activities (except for education and the arts), real wages are higher than in the third quarter of 2021 (before the full-scale invasion).

The NBU also emphasized that, according to indirect indicators, wage growth continued in the fourth quarter of 2024.
