Polish Minister Responds to Zelensky: Assistance to Ukraine Should Not Harm Our Security

Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said that Ukrainians, including President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, have a short memory. After all, it was Poland that helped Ukraine the most in the early days of the war. He said this on TVN24, Komersant ukrainskyi reports

Kosiniak-Kamysh noted that Poland has supported Ukraine humanely and militarily from the first days of the war, having donated a significant amount of equipment. However, according to him, Zelensky’s statements sometimes sound as if Poland is not doing enough.

The minister added that “Ukrainians have a short memory,” recalling the large amount of assistance his country has already provided.

“We cannot say that Poland is not doing its best. Poland has done and continues to do everything possible,” Kosiniak-Kamysh said.

He emphasized that Poland will continue to help Ukraine, but there are limits that it is not ready to cross, as this could jeopardize the security of the state.

“I understand President Zelensky, I understand the current situation. This is his role. But there is a line that I will never cross. The limit of assistance to Ukraine is a matter of Poland’s security. If the transfer of any equipment threatens the security of the Polish state, I simply will not transfer this equipment,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.

The minister also said that he had discussed with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte the possibility of a collective decision by the Alliance to shoot down missiles, but no such decision has been made.

“Yesterday I spoke with the NATO Secretary General. Today there is no joint decision of the Alliance to shoot down missiles over Ukraine,” he said.

Poland’s defense minister also believes that Zelenskyy is trying to involve other countries in direct participation in the conflict with Russia.
