Ukrainian Armed Forces colonel signs contract for defence supplies for kickback

The Specialised Defence Prosecutor’s Office accuses the head of one of the departments of the Armed Forces Support Command and the general director of the enterprise of bribery. This was reported by the citing the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
According to the prosecutors, the colonel, in collusion with the businessman, concluded an agreement with him at the end of last year to purchase goods for defence purposes for more than UAH 36 million. The prosecutor’s office alleges that the serviceman received a kickback of USD 14,600 for facilitating the conclusion and execution of the contract.

The court has now imposed on the detainees a custodial measure of restraint with an alternative of UAH 10 million bail. The serviceman is charged with obtaining an undue advantage by an official holding a responsible position, and the businessman, respectively, with giving an undue advantage (Articles 368 and 369 of the Criminal Code).
