Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: Kursk NPP can be profitable exchanged for occupied Zaporizhzhya NPP
7 August 11:38
On the night of 7 August, powerful explosions occurred in the Russian city of Kurchatov, where the Kursk nuclear power plant is located. This was reported by Russian Telegram channels with reference to local residents. It is said that after a powerful impact, windows were smashed in Kurchatov.
Local authorities deny the fact of an explosion at the Russian nuclear power plant. The head of Kurchatov, Korpunkov, called the reports of shelling of the Kursk NPP fake. However, the so-called official reports from Russia should not be believed either.
Does Ukraine need the Kursk NPP?
If the enemy occupied our largest nuclear power plant in Europe, Zaporizhzhia NPP, we could do something similar. Colonel Petro Chernyk, a reserve officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, suggests on the Youtube platform “News Factory” what the seizure of the Kursk NPP would bring to Ukraine.
“Suppose that some good forces fighting on the side of Ukraine managed to take control of the Kursk NPP. And they have our NPP. Could this be a precedent for a serious bargaining in the ‘let’s swap’ mode? Why not?”
Petro Chernyk

Let me remind you that as of the morning of 7 August, there were no official reports from the Ukrainian side about what was happening in Russia. We know only from Russian propaganda resources that certain forces have entered the territory of the Kursk region. They say that 11 settlements are occupied. In particular, the settlements of Daryino, Sverdlikovo, Gogolivka and Honcharivka are occupied.
The frontline is allegedly 10-11 km wide and 15 km deep.
