Pole who plotted to assassinate Zelensky last year faces up to 8 years in prison

Polish prosecutors have indicted Polish citizen Pawel K., who last year helped organize an assassination attempt on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This is reported by Rzeczpospolita, "Komersant Ukrainian" informs
It is noted that the suspect was arrested in April 2024 as a result of cooperation between law enforcement agencies from Poland and Ukraine.
The prosecutor of the Mazowiecki Branch of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption in Warsaw today filed an indictment against the detainee with the District Court.
According to the investigation, the man established contacts with Russians directly involved in the war against Ukraine. These actions were to help, in particular, the Russian special services in planning a possible assassination attempt on the life of a foreign head of state, i.e. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The defendant’s tasks were to collect and provide security information at Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport in southeastern Poland.
The suspect was charged with being ready to act on behalf of a foreign intelligence service against the Republic of Poland. He faces up to 8 years in prison.
Earlier it was reported that Ukrainian special services had prevented at least five or six plots to assassinate President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
In April 2024, the SBU said that a Russian agent had been exposed in Poland who had offered the special services of the aggressor country Russia to assassinate Zelensky during his visit to Warsaw.
In early 2023, the Independent wrote that Zelenskyy had survived more than 12 assassination attempts since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. According to The New York Times, the US CIA helped prevent at least one assassination attempt.
