The plan of victory: Johnson names three conditions for ending the war in Ukraine
19 November 07:41Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has made a proposal for the West, which, in his opinion, will help Ukraine not only avoid defeat but also win. He wrote about this on his page on the social network X, reports
“As we approach the 1000th day of Ukraine’s struggle for freedom, we salute their incredible bravery in the face of the most cynical and unprincipled active aggression in Europe since World War II. Ukrainians have proven time and again that they have the will to defeat Putin’s armies from Kyiv to Kherson, from Kharkiv to Kursk, deep inside Russia,” he wrote.
Johnson proposed a plan for Ukraine’s victory on the eve of the thousandth day of the war.
“On this bitter anniversary, it is time for Ukraine’s friends to come up with a plan – not just to keep Ukraine from losing, but to ensure Ukraine’s victory,” he said.
Johnson outlined the main points of his plan for Ukraine’s victory:
- The date of Ukraine’s accession to NATO:
Johnson emphasized that Ukraine is already a free, independent, democratic European state, so the West should “decide to provide security guarantees” and name a specific date for Ukraine’s accession to NATO.
- Financial assistance:
It is proposed to provide Ukraine with a loan of $500 billion, similar to the Lend-Lease program, to provide financial resources to win the war.
- Missile support:
Johnson welcomed US President Joe Biden’s decision to allow Ukraine to use ATACMS missiles to strike Russian military bases. He called on the UK and France to authorize Ukraine to use Storm Shadow and SCALP cruise missiles.
According to Johnson, these measures will help convince Russian President Vladimir Putin that “he has made a giant mistake” and will never be able to conquer Ukraine.
“Taken together, these measures will convince Putin of what has become clear since his invasion: that he has made a giant mistake and that he will never conquer the Ukrainian people. Only when the Kremlin truly accepts this message will peace return to Ukraine,” he said.
Johnson noted that it is extremely important that the EU countries decide that Ukraine is no longer a satellite of Moscow, but a free and independent sovereign democratic European nation.
“This means we must have the courage and logic to give Ukrainians the security guarantees they need and announce a date for Ukraine’s accession to NATO in the near future,” Johnson wrote
