Pilot who flew Mi-8 helicopter to Ukraine shot dead in Spain

Maxim Kuzminov, a Russian pilot who had flown an Mi-8 helicopter to Ukraine, was found shot dead in Spain. This was reported by Ukrayinska Pravda, citing intelligence sources, reports

“He decided to move to Spain instead of being here. From what we know: he invited his ex to his place and was found shot dead,”

The fact of his death was officially confirmed by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.

According to Il Correspondente, Kuzminov was killed on 13 February in Villajoyosa, Alicante. At that time, local media reported that a corpse with 12 bullets in it had been found, which had also been run over by a car. They allegedly found 100,000 euros on the body.

Maksim Kuzminov was driven to Ukraine by a Russian Mi-8 military helicopter during a special operation by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine. During a routine flight, he directed the helicopter to the territory of Ukraine, with the prior agreement of the Ukrainian side. The helicopter was carrying two other Russian servicemen, who were killed during the special operation. The helicopter was carrying parts for Russian SU-27 and SU-30 fighter aircraft. Before that, Kuzminov managed to smuggle his family out of Russia.
