Bloggers from Kamianets-Podilskyi, Yana Halamandra and Vika Oblamska, got married on 24 August with a ceremony, ring exchange and love vows. This is stated on the girls’ Instagram pages, Komersant ukrainskyi reports
However, their marriage is not legally binding, as same-sex marriage is currently illegal in Ukraine, although the relevant bill has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada since March 2023.
The girls got engaged last year. Vika proposed to her beloved at a friend’s wedding.
Yana and Vika have been together for 6 years and have always dreamed of getting married one day.
“Guys, we are getting married, it happened, 6 years, ups and downs. And now we are married,” they wrote in a joint post.
The newlyweds chose a picturesque place with a green lawn and a swimming pool for the ceremony. Yana, who had always dreamed of a lavish wedding, did not limit herself in choosing a dress and decorations. Victoria looked elegant in an exquisite suit, reports Suspilne Khmelnytskyi.
“An arch for the bride and groom and a tent were set up on the lawn, where the festive tables were set. I had a white wedding dress made by a seamstress, and Vika picked out a suit. Everything went just like a normal wedding. Like a real bride, I was escorted to Vika by my godmother and her husband, and a little girl scattered rose petals in front of me. At the end of the wedding party, as brides are supposed to do, they took off my veil, I danced with it and, of course, threw me a wedding bouquet,” says Yana.
“It was exactly the wedding I had always dreamed of,” Yana said. – “The day before, we had an unforgettable bachelorette party with our closest friends. And at the wedding, we were surrounded by people who were genuinely happy for us.”
Despite the fact that same-sex marriage has not yet been legalised in Ukraine, Yana and Victoria do not lose hope for changes in legislation.
“We believe that someday we will be able to get officially married and celebrate our wedding again, this time in accordance with all the laws,” Yana said.
