Pension payments increased by 8.4%: Pension Fund completes funding for March 2025

27 March 04:00

The Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU) has completed financing pensions for March 2025, paying a total of UAH 67.4 billion. This is 8.4% more than in February, when the amount amounted to UAH 62.2 billion. This was reported by the press service of the Pension Fund of Ukraine, Komersant ukrainskyi reports

How have the payments changed, who has received a raise and what should pensioners expect in April? Let’s analyze the key details.

Record funding in March

According to the Pension Fund, March payments increased by UAH 5.2 billion compared to the previous month. The distribution of funds was as follows:

  • uAH 9.5 billion – through Ukrposhta.
  • uAH 57.9 billion – through authorized banks.

Except for pensions, as of March 25, all pensions have been paid:

  • Housing subsidies and benefits – UAH 5,241.1 million.
  • Insurance payments amounted to UAH 2,951.5 million, including UAH 1,800.2 million for sick leave payments.

The Pension Fund also reported on providing 947.8 thousand services to citizens who applied to its bodies in March.

Pension indexation: what has changed

On March 1, 2025, Ukraine carried out the fourth pension indexation during the full-scale war. It covered more than 10 million citizens, most of whom saw their payments increase by 11.5%. This brought the average pension in the country to UAH 6,345. Indexation was an important step to support pensioners in the face of economic challenges.

Another piece of good news: starting April 1, pensions for 630,000 working pensioners will be automatically recalculated. The update will take into account their current insurance record, which may further increase payments.

Why payments have increased

The 8.4% increase in March is due to indexation and stable funding from the state.

“The Pension Fund has completed payments on time, providing all pensioners with funds,” the press service said.

This increase also reflects the government’s efforts to maintain social standards despite the war.

How this will affect pensioners

For Ukrainians, an 11.5% increase in pensions means additional funds for basic needs. For example, a pensioner with a payment of UAH 5,000 in February will now receive about UAH 5,575.

For working pensioners, the April recalculation will be another bonus, as it will take into account their length of service gained in 2024-2025.
