Ukrainian athlete Andriy Trusov managed to win a gold medal in the 50-metre freestyle (class S7) at the Paralympics. He set a world record. This was reported by Komersant ukrainskyi with reference to the National Paralympic Committee of Ukraine.
“50 medals and 11 gold medals for Ukraine!!! And a new world record! Andriy TRUSOV (Donetsk region) won 🥇GOLD in the 50-metre freestyle, class S7, and set a world record of 26.38,” the statement reads.
Trusov qualified for the 50-metre final with a time of 27.31 seconds, which was a Paralympic record.
In the final, the Ukrainian athlete managed to improve his result. He reached the finish line in 26.38 seconds. This is a world record.
Colombian Carlos Daniel Serrano-Sarate, who took second place, finished in 27.60 seconds.
Trusov won the 11th gold medal for Ukraine at the Paralympics. Prior to that, the athlete won three silvers during the competition.
“Such an expected gold!!! And such a clear position of Ukraine towards the aggressor country. 11 gold, 18 silver and 21 bronze medals are Ukraine’s!!!” the National Paralympic Committee of Ukraine said.
