Five parcels per second: Ukrposhta has fully automated parcel processing

4 February 18:07

Ukrposhta has fully automated its sorting facilities and from now on, all 100% of parcels in the country will be processed on robotic lines, which will provide a technological breakthrough in the speed of processing and delivery of shipments. This was reported by Ukrposhta, according to [Kommersant].

Automation of parcel processing increases the speed and accuracy of sorting by eight times, which will allow processing up to two million parcels per day, and the processing speed will reach five parcels per second.

“Today, the era of “blue coats” and manual sorting of parcels is over. We have installed the last automatic sorting lines in the country in Mykolaiv and Zaporizhzhia, and I have fulfilled one of my main promises. Now 100% of parcels are sorted and processed on automatic and semi-automatic lines made in Ukraine,” said Igor Smelyansky, CEO of Ukrposhta.

He also said that Ukrposhta financed the investment in modernization at its own expense, which amounted to one billion hryvnias. According to Ihor Smelyansky, this made it possible to provide all sorting centers with the latest equipment and software made in Ukraine by UIS.

Ukrposhta is not the only one that cares about automation

In addition to launching automated lines, Ukrposhta has also introduced a new logistics model. The model is based on optimizing routes between terminals, logistics centers and depots. As a result, parcels between major cities and regional centers of Ukraine will be delivered the next day after they are sent.

According to Igor Smelyansky, fully automated lines are currently operating in seven key hubs: Kyiv-Right, Kyiv-Left, Odesa, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, Lviv and Dnipro, as well as in 17 logistics centers across Ukraine where semi-automated lines are used.

All sorting centers are equipped with powerful industrial generators, which guarantees uninterrupted operation even in the absence of power supply.

In 2025, Ukrposhta plans to complete the automation of sorting letters, newspapers and picking orders for medicines, as well as open another international parcel processing center.

Ukrposhta helps the Ukrainian army

Ukrposhta, the country’s main post office, the Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theater and TEATR.org.ua are raising funds for a Magura V5 maritime drone for the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine. It will be called the Konotop Witch. According to the initiators of the fundraiser, Ukrposhta has issued an exclusive stamp “Konotop Witch” (only 100 copies), and the Franko team signed it and are already raffling it off on tour after the performance. The treasure will also be given to some lucky people who donate to the collection. They will be chosen at random, so everyone has a chance!

And on January 31, open auctions started and will last until February 24 inclusive, where 11 demilitarized Nagan revolvers will be put up for auction. [Kommersant]reported. The sale, organized by Ukrposhta and the Ministry of Strategic Industries, will take place at electronic auctions in the Prozorro.Sale system. All 11 revolvers will be sold in separate lots, in three rounds. The minimum period of exposure in the system is seven calendar days, and the duration of the auction itself will depend on the number of registered participants.
