Own business: 10,000 Ukrainians received grants for business development

In 2023, the state initiative “Own business” supported more than 10,000 Ukrainian entrepreneurs by providing them with grants for starting and developing businesses, reports комерсант with reference to the Ministry of Economy.

According to the information of the Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Tetiana Berezhnaya, in the last wave of the 2023 program, 359 entrepreneurs were selected, who together will receive financing in the amount of 86.5 million hryvnias (UAH) for the implementation or expansion of their commercial projects. In total, during the year, more than ten thousand citizens received micro-grants in the amount of 2.4 billion hryvnias (UAH).

Since the launch of the program in July 2022, the number of beneficiaries has reached 13.5 thousand people, and the government has invested a total of 3 billion hryvnias (UAH) for the development of their business projects. As a result, thousands of new businesses and jobs have been created, and many businesses have scaled their operations.

In the 23rd wave of the program, among the grantees, 57% were women and 43% were men, most of whom have higher education. Representatives of Lviv, Vinnytsia, Kyiv oblasts and the city of Kyiv received the largest number of grants. Most of the grants will be used to purchase business equipment.

The main areas of activity of the winners of the 23 waves include wholesale and retail trade, motor vehicle repair services, catering and food processing industry.

Under the terms of the “Own business” program, Ukrainians can receive a grant of 50 to 250 thousand hryvnias (UAH) for starting or developing a business, using the funds to purchase equipment, raw materials, and rent premises. The program provides for the creation of one or two jobs, depending on the amount of the grant.

The eRobota (єРобота) project has several grant programs aimed at supporting entrepreneurship and job creation, including programs for the creation of processing enterprises, horticulture, viticulture and greenhouse farming. To participate in the program, you need to apply through the Diya portal.
