Energy expert Volodymyr Omelchenko refutes the information about the growth of Russian oil transit through Ukraine, which was recently spread by a number of media outlets. He said this in an exclusive commentary to Komersant ukrainskyi
“Nothing has changed in the transit in terms of contractual performance: oil transit has been going on as it has been going on, in accordance with the contractual agreements between Ukrtransnafta and the Russian company Transneft,” the expert said.
Omelchenko questioned the reliability of the information published by the Ukrainian media. According to him, the data should be confirmed by Ukrtransnafta:
“This is rather strange information. I do not understand where these figures come from. They should be verified by Ukrtransnafta. Only there.”

The expert also reminded that the contract for the transportation of Russian oil is a long-term commitment of Ukraine.
“This transit will last for 10 years, until 2030. Ukrtransnafta, the Ukrainian operator of the oil pipeline system, and Transneft, the operator of the Russian oil pipeline system, have a 10-year contract there.”
The day before, the industry publication ExPro, citing its own calculations, disseminated information that the transit of Russian oil to the EU through the Ukrainian part of the Druzhba pipeline doubled in July this year, from 0.54 million tonnes to 1.09 million tonnes, compared to June.
