New energy investments: Shmyhal agreed on financing in Washington

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has signed an agreement with World Bank Managing Director Anne Bjerde in Washington, D.C., under which the World Bank will provide Ukraine with $70 million to maintain the stability of the Ukrainian energy system. This was announced by the head of the Ukrainian government on his Telegram channel, Komersant ukrainskyi reports
According to Shmyhal, these funds will be used to maintain the stability of the Ukrainian energy system, which has suffered significant damage as a result of ongoing Russian attacks.
Thanks to this financing, Ukrhydroenergo will purchase energy storage systems.
“This will allow us to create a reserve of electricity and strengthen our energy resilience,” the Prime Minister of Ukraine said. – “We thank the World Bank and all our partners for supporting the energy sector of Ukraine, which has suffered significant damage as a result of Russian attacks.




In addition, in Washington, D.C., Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Audrey Renaud-Basso signed an agreement to allocate €270 million to strengthen energy resilience. The funds will be used to prepare for the next heating season.
