The Netherlands allocates €122 million for military assistance to Ukraine

The Netherlands has decided to allocate €122 million to support Ukraine in the military sphere. The funds will be used to purchase ammunition, weapons, and cybersecurity, the citing the press service of the Dutch government.

It is noted that the country is allocating 87 million euros for the purchase of artillery shells for Ukraine. The Netherlands will also transfer 25 million to the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU) for the purchase of weapons.

“These donations are the result of consultations of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (UDCG), which includes 50 partner countries. They help Ukraine to purchase equipment and resources to defend itself against Russia,”

– the statement said.

The Netherlands is also allocating €10 million to strengthen cybersecurity in Ukraine as part of the IT Coalition.

“The contribution to cyber defence will be used, among other things, to create and expand online infrastructure in Ukraine. This is very important. The country has already faced several attempts at hacking and cyberattacks,”

– the Dutch government noted.

Dutch Minister of Defence Keesa Ollongren noted that support for Ukraine is critical not only in the short term but also in the long term. She stressed the importance of demonstrating to the Ukrainian people the readiness to help in their struggle.

Earlier, the Netherlands contributed €100 million to the IFU, an initiative of the United Kingdom. The fund has been used to purchase air defence systems, ammunition and spare parts.

The Netherlands also contributed €130 million for artillery shells to the German-led fund for the purchase of 155mm shells, which are much needed in Ukraine.
