Member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security Mariana Bezuhla, who signed the the draft law 11460which allows MPs, officials, judges, prosecutors, NGO representatives and other booked men to travel abroad without hindrance, said that the document has no prospects in the future and was a kind of “trolling,” reports Komersant ukrainskyi with reference to the the broadcast of Radio Liberty.
“I have already spoken about the so-called ‘trolling’, it takes place because we understand that the registration of the draft law is not even a vote in the committee, it is a collection of ideas, in fact, a statement that it would be good to work on this topic, as the authors believe (…)
I do not think that it (the draft law – ed.) has any prospects of even reaching the first reading, it is more a statement by a certain political faction, but nevertheless, due to the fact that I have previously worked on certain norms and they partially appeal to me, I joined the initiative,” the MP said.
In her opinion, all those who are booked or have a deferral should have the right to travel abroad.
“In my ideal world, we would not have the right to ban citizens from travelling abroad. This is their conscious choice to be a citizen or not,” Bezuhla said and stressed that, in her opinion, Ukrainians are constantly travelling abroad without this law, using various “schemes”.
The MP also said that the submitted draft law expands the rights to demobilise the military.
“I had no moral right not to support this provision, since I initiated the discussion about 36 months (the draft law refers to the discharge of military personnel who have served for 36 months and at least 18 of them were in the immediate combat zone – ed.
At the same time, Bezuhla believes that these norms will not be adopted.
“One of the key reasons is that the General Staff of the Ministry of Defence is simply unable to work out and calculate, to make a plan on how we can change such citizens,” Bezuhla said.
Despite the fact that the draft law was submitted to the Verkhovna Rada by the head of the European Solidarity party, Petro Poroshenko, a number of MPs from the Servant of the People party are still ready to support it. Among them is Georgii Mazurashu. However, he noted that Poroshenko’s legislative initiative was not discussed at the meeting of the Servant of the People faction.
