National Bank issues vertical banknote (photo)

To mark the second anniversary of the full-scale Russian invasion, the National Bank of Ukraine has issued a commemorative banknote “Unity Saves the World”. The 50-hryvnia note was put into circulation on 23 February. This was reported by the NBU press service, reports
“The new banknote is a symbol of gratitude to the world for its involvement. We are proud of our partnership with other countries and believe in the strength of their unity, which is strengthening,”
– said NBU Governor Andriy Pyshnyi.
The commemorative banknote “Unity Saves the World” with the EU series and the signature of the NBU Governor was issued in a circulation of 300,000 units in souvenir packaging. The design of the banknote was created by artist Volodymyr Taran. The front side of the banknote features a stylised outline of Ukraine in the shape of a heart, with the image of a girl wearing a military helmet looking towards the West in the background.
The banknote features a stylised map of Europe with routes of aid to Ukraine. To the right is a symbol of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and an element for the visually impaired.
The text in Ukrainian and English emphasises the importance of unity and solidarity in Ukraine’s fight against Russian aggression. The reverse of the banknote features clasped hands, symbolising cooperation and trust.
