The National Bank of Ukraine has presented a new commemorative coin “Digital State”. The square-shaped 10-hryvnia coin is made of 999 silver and weighs 31.1 grams. This was reported by the press service of the National Bank, Komersant ukrainskyi reports

The National Bank of Ukraine has dedicated this commemorative coin “Digital State” to Ukraine’s achievements in the field of digital technologies and innovations.

“Ukraine demonstrates that digital transformation is a necessary step for the development of modern states. And even in times of war, we continue our journey towards new technologies, breaking down barriers between people and services, both public and financial,” commented NBU Governor Andriy Pyshnyi on the coin’s release.

The obverse of the commemorative coin “Digital State” features the small State Emblem of Ukraine in the center of the composition, surrounded by an electronic network. This combination symbolizes Ukraine as a single digital system, a monolithic and integral state that has integrated all aspects of its citizens’ lives with the help of the latest technologies.

The reverse of the coin depicts a schematic map of Ukraine created from the digits of a binary code. This code is not accidental – it encodes the name UKRAINE (left), which can be deciphered by tracing the path from each individual letter to the corresponding sequence of digits.

At the bottom right is the inscription “Digital State” with a stylized computer mouse cursor. The composition symbolizes the foundation of the digital world, emphasizing the importance of technology for the country’s development.

The coin was designed by artist Andriy Sagach.

The Digital State coin was put into circulation on December 13, with a mintage of up to 7,500 pieces.

The commemorative coin will be available in the NBU’s online numismatic products store starting January 9, 2025, as well as from distributor banks.
