The NBU continues to clean up the market: 17 financial institutions lost their registration

The number of nonbank financial market participants in February decreased from 872 (as of February 1, 2025) to 855 (as of March 1, 2025). The number of banks decreased to 61 (it was 62). This was reported by Komersant ukrainskyi with reference to the National Bank.
Who left the financial market
In particular, on February 4, 2025, at the suggestion of the Deposit Guarantee Fund, the NBU Board decided to revoke the banking license and liquidate Commercial Investment Bank JSC on February 6, 2025.
One risk insurer and one credit union were removed from the registers at the initiative of the applicant.
Fourteen financial companies and one pawnshop were forcibly removed from the registers.
In addition, in February, the licenses of eight financial companies, one risk insurance company, one pawnshop, and one credit union were voluntarily revoked (based on applications).
At the same time, the licenses of six financial companies were revoked forcibly.
The NBU also approved the narrowing of the scope of licenses for four financial companies and suspended the license of one financial company.
Who operates in the financial market
As of March 1, 2025, 464 financial companies (up from 478), 54 non-life insurers (up from 55), 10 life insurers (unchanged), one insurer with a special status, 108 pawnshops (up from 109), 101 credit unions (up from 102), one lessor (unchanged), 43 insurance brokers (unchanged), and 73 collection companies (unchanged) were operating in the non-banking financial services market.
The number of banking groups in the market has not changed (15), as well as the number of non-banking financial groups (40).
The payment market includes 15 payment systems established by residents, including state-owned ones (the number has not changed), and 14 international payment systems established by non-residents (the number has not changed).

At the same time, the market for financial payment service providers includes 18 payment institutions (the number has not changed), 12 financial institutions authorized to provide payment services (the number has not changed), one bank that issues electronic money (the number has not changed), and one postal service operator (the number has not changed).
Other entities operating in the payment market include 49 commercial agents (the number has not changed) and 30 payment service technology operators (the number has not changed).
In February, the NBU received 304 requests from market participants for registration and licensing actions. The number of inquiries concerning financial companies, pawnshops, and lessors amounted to 193, insurers – 70, credit unions and collection companies – 19, banks – 21, and payment service operators – one.
