Trump’s peace plan to be unveiled next week – Bloomberg
6 February 08:18
The administration of US President Donald Trump will present a plan to end the Russian-Ukrainian war at the Munich Security Conference next week. Bloomberg reported this with reference to its own sources, according to Komersant ukrainskyi.
According to the sources, who wished to remain anonymous, the plan is to be presented by Trump’s special representative for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg. The sources did not specify how detailed the discussions would be or in what format they would take place.
Kellogg and others have hinted in recent weeks that the plan would embody the concept of “peace through strength.” However, the publication does not reveal much about the plan.
The key elements of the plan are:
freezing the conflict, leaving the occupied territories in an uncertain status;
providing Ukraine with security guarantees to prevent new attacks from Moscow.
Later this month, Kellogg is expected to make his first visit to Ukraine and the European Union. In Ukraine, he is scheduled to meet with Zelenskyy.
Meanwhile, according to sources, the Ukrainian leader plans to visit several Gulf countries after the Munich conference.

Contacts with Washington
Earlier, Kellogg hinted that the United States would like to see elections held in Ukraine after the ceasefire. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this week that he is open to holding elections after the war ends and martial law is lifted.
Trump, in turn, said that access to critical minerals in exchange for US support could be part of a settlement. Kyiv also responded with a cautious agreement.
The Ukrainian president’s chief adviser, Andriy Yermak, spoke this week with U.S. National Security Adviser Michael Volz, while a spokesman for Russian President Putin reported that contacts between U.S. and Russian agencies have intensified.
Both Putin and Zelenskiy made it clear that their earlier refusal to talk to each other had softened as Trump’s plan approached. In an interview with Piers Morgan, Zelenskyy reiterated his willingness to talk to Putin to end the war in the presence of Ukraine’s partners.
Trump’s position on Ukraine
During the election campaign, Donald Trump repeatedly said that he would stop the war in Ukraine within 24 hours of taking office. This deadline has already passed.
Also, Trump no longer mentions that he already had a “Trump Plan”. The plan was that the United States would use its influence to stop the war, taking into account the status quo. To do this, Trump would force Putin and Zelenskyy to sit down at the negotiating table. If Putin does not agree to negotiate, the United States will give Ukraine all the weapons it needs to win on the battlefield. If Zelenskyy refuses to negotiate, the United States will completely stop helping Ukraine.
This plan, in its various variations, included a provision that Russia would retain the territories it temporarily occupied and that Ukraine would not join NATO.
However, later Trump seemed to “forget” about this plan. In particular, he voiced scenarios in which he would force Russia to capitulate due to the decline in world oil prices.
After Trump was elected President of the United States, one of his advisors, Brian Lanza, said that Ukraine should forget about Crimea. Trump’s entourage, however, was quick to deny this statement and said that Lanza could not speak on his behalf.
Currently, the US Special Representative for Russia and Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, is talking about 100 days within which he wants to reach some kind of agreement.
