On 19 August, MP Mykola Tyshchenko’s house arrest was extended until 23 September. This was reported by Komersant ukrainskyi with reference to “Suspilne TV channel.
Thus, the politician will be under round-the-clock house arrest for a month and 4 days.
As a reminder, the MP is suspected of unlawfully imprisoning a former serviceman in Dnipro. In June, the court in this case sent the MP to house arrest for 60 days without the right to post bail.
What is known about the case involving Mykola Tyshchenko
on 20 June, photos and videos began to circulate on social media of an active duty soldier, volunteer Dmytro ‘Son’ Pavlov being beaten while walking on the street with a baby in Dnipro. Unidentified men wearing balaclavas snatched the child from the man’s arms, handcuffed him and began beating him.
Later, it became known that the man was attacked by the bodyguards of MP Mykola Tyshchenko. The politician himself promptly stated that he and his people were not involved in the beating of the soldier. According to his version, the man allegedly attacked police officers during searches of “fraudulent bot farms”. At the same time, the police press service did not report an attack on its own officers.
Meanwhile, the local police opened two criminal proceedings – intentional light bodily harm and illegal deprivation of liberty.
on 25 June, Tyshchenko was served a notice of suspicion in connection with the incident in Dnipro.
SBI officers also searched the MP’s place and seized cash in foreign currency. Tyshchenko himself asked to keep the money, without which he “has nothing to live on”. In addition, during the searches, he smashed his phone to avoid providing it as material evidence.
On the same day, the Prosecutor General’s Office approved a motion to impose a measure of restraint on Tyshchenko in the form of round-the-clock house arrest. Mykola Tyshchenko was fitted with an electronic bracelet.
