MP Honcharenko demands dismissal of Defense Minister Umerov

The Verkhovna Rada has registered a draft resolution on the dismissal of Ukraine’s Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. This was announced on his Telegram channel by MP Oleksiy Honcharenko, who initiated the document, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.

“Umerov must resign. After his dismissal, there should be criminal cases. And preferably specific sentences. I hope my colleagues will support me and we will get rid of this powerful man as soon as possible,” Goncharenko wrote.

It should be noted that earlier Oleksiy Honcharenko criticized Rustem Umerov because of the problem of ammunition faced by Ukrainian defenders.

“The Ministry of Defense under Umerov’s leadership simply could not produce ammunition properly. The money was allocated. But the ammunition produced was defective. It was put into service and passed all the tests, and on the front line we realized that it was dangerous for the personnel. What should we do now? We don’t have any BCs. What does the Minister of Defense do? I said it just a couple of months after his appointment: he is incompetent. He should be fired immediately,” the MP wrote.

The post was dedicated to the incident with Ukrainian weapons. The state budget allocated funds for the production of domestic weapons and awarded contracts to the Ukroboronprom plant, which began producing mines. But the company had problems with one of its components, the fuzes. Instead of the required type of parts, which were not available, they used existing fuzes that cannot work properly in this type of mine.

When the ammunition arrived at the front line, it turned out that only one out of 10 mines detonated. The batch was immediately recalled.
