Journalist Yuriy Makarov was attacked with a knife. What is known

On April 16, in Kyiv, an unknown person attacked a journalist and executive producer of Suspilne Broadcasting, Yuriy Makarov, with a knife.

This was reported by Suspilne, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

Yuriy Makarov was hospitalized in serious condition. As of now, there is no threat to his life.

Criminal proceedings have been opened under the article of grievous bodily harm (Part 1 of Article 121). The police are conducting investigative actions.

“We call on the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine to take the investigation under his personal control,” Suspilne said in a statement.

What do the police say?

The attack took place in the Solomyansky district of Kyiv near a residential complex. According to preliminary data, the attacker suddenly stabbed him and fled the scene.

The police are already investigating – the crime weapon and other material evidence were seized at the crime scene.

“Investigators of the Solomyansky Police Department initiated criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional grievous bodily harm. Measures are being taken to detain the attacker,” the police said in a statement.
