a 49-year-old resident of Kamen-Kashyrskyi was served a notice of suspicion of repeatedly trafficking people across the state border of Ukraine. Between April 2022 and September 2023, he ensured that men went abroad 71 times. This was reported by the Prosecutor’s Office of the Volyn region, Komersant ukrainskyi reports
According to the investigation, the entrepreneur, who has a licence for international passenger transport, entered false information about men liable for military service into the Shlyakh information system as drivers of his company, enabling them to travel to EU countries.
In this way, during the period of martial law in April 2022 – September 2023, he ensured that men travelled abroad 71 times.
The court imposed on the suspect a custodial measure of restraint in the form of bail in the amount of UAH 242,240.
We would like to add that 10 carriers were disconnected from the Shlyakh system for systematic violation of the rules for crossing the state border by persons liable for military service.
It is worth noting that Ukrainian truckers who leave their trucks abroad and do not return home for fear of being mobilised are being equated with kidnappers.
Recently, there has been an increase in the number of cases where drivers of international routes, having received a temporary legal right to travel abroad under the Shlyakh system, deliberately do not return home, leaving company trucks to fend for themselves. This is how they avoid mobilisation.
This creates significant difficulties for transport companies, as they need to find a new driver to return the truck. In addition, companies whose drivers do not return to Ukraine are blocked in the Shlyakh system, making it impossible to send new trips abroad.
