In Poltava region, police detained the head of the MSEC, who issued disability certificates for the wives of men with military service for $9,000. This was reported by Komersant ukrainskyi
with reference to the press service of the National Police.
The head of the regional MSEC set up a corrupt scheme to obtain disability. Women whose husbands or sons could be called up for mobilisation applied for such “help”.
The defendant entered false information about the health status of the “clients” into medical records and received a conclusion about the presence of a group II disability, which, in turn, became the basis for the women to receive permanent third-party care from their husbands liable for military service and further avoid military service and even travel abroad.
The defendant estimated the value of the decision illegally made by the MSEC at $9,000.
Law enforcers detained the head of the MSEC and his “financier” when they were receiving the second tranche of $1,500. A few days earlier, the defendants received $7,500 for making the necessary decision by the commission.
The searches resulted in the seizure of the object of the unlawful benefit, cash in various currencies in the amount of about UAH 5.5 million, medical records, copies of medical reports and extracts from the MSEC, a car and draft records.
The issue of choosing a measure of restraint is currently being decided.
The defendants face up to ten years in prison.
