A deputy of the Poltava Regional Council ordered the murder of the owner of a local agricultural company in order to take over his business. This was reported by Komersant ukrainskyi with reference to the SBU.
According to the SBU press service, the deputy engaged his driver to commit the crime. For the murder, he promised his subordinate 20 thousand US dollars.
The murder was planned to take place on the territory of a local abandoned pumping station, where the deputy invited the businessman, allegedly to discuss business issues.
During the meeting, the killer was supposed to put a noose around the victim’s neck and strangle him, and then stage the hanging of his victim. After that, the MP planned to forge documents on the corporate rights of the businessman’s agricultural company to indicate himself as a trustee.

To prepare the crime, the defendants met in secret places without video surveillance cameras and communicated with each other exclusively in person, without any communication by phone. However, even such secrecy measures did not help them.
“SBU counterintelligence was proactive and detained both criminals red-handed when they were taking the businessman to the place of a ‘business’ meeting,” the press service said.
Security service investigators served the MP and his driver a notice of suspicion in connection with the crimes committed under Part 2 of Art. 15, Parts. 2, 3 of Art. 27 and Part 2 of Art. 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (organization and complicity in the commission of a completed attempted murder). The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
