The Legion of Freedom of Russia may be in the Kursk region, but other forces are leading this military operation. About this in an exclusive commentary [Kommersant] russian oppositionist and former coordinator of the political centre of the Legion “Freedom of Russia” Ilya Ponomarev said in an exclusive interview with Komersant ukrainskyi.
“It is not the Legion of Freedom of Russia that is now in the Kursk region, which used to be at the forefront of such events. The Legion may be there, but it is definitely not the leader of this process,” Ilya Ponomaryov
Moreover, Ponomarev reminded, Russian volunteer associations in Ukraine, the Legion “Freedom of Russia”, the “National Republican Army” and the RDC, have abandoned the common political centre. The organisations focused exclusively on combat operations.
None of the forces officially confirm their presence in the Kursk region. And one of the latest messages on the Legion Telegram channel from 5 August is quite ambiguous. They showed us the fighters and said they were preparing for battle.

What is happening in the Kursk region?
on 6 August, local authorities, the so-called Russian military commanders, reported that units of the Ukrainian Defence Forces had allegedly “broken through” the border in the Kursk region, which borders Sumy. Enemy resources acknowledged that the Russian army had suffered losses, including manpower, equipment and aircraft, as well as captured conscripts.
on 7 August, Deep State analysts report the destruction of a Russian Ka-52 near Nizhniy Klin and two Russian tanks on trawls in the northwestern part of the town of Suji.
According to the Real War Telegram channel, the Sudzha border checkpoint on the border between Kursk and Sumy regions was destroyed.
Putin, in turn, convenes a meeting in connection with the events in Kursk and accuses Kyiv of provocations in Kursk region. The Ukrainian side does not confirm its presence.
In the afternoon of 7 August, one of Russia’s so-called military commanders said that Russia had decided to surrender Sudzha in the Kursk region to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Moreover, according to media reports, one of the largest gas distribution stations in Europe, Sudzha, has come under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This station passes 15 billion cubic metres of gas a year.
At the same time, the enemy resource of the OGPU Cheka reported that unknown forces had taken control of the settlements of Mykolaiv-Daryino, Daryino and Sverdlikovo in Kursk Oblast, with a total area of 45.1 square kilometres. Russian media also estimate that the distance from the town of Sverdlikovo to the Kursk nuclear power plant is 77 km. Apparently, they are hinting that the Kursk NPP may become the next target for unknown forces operating in the Kursk region.
