The international project TANAIS offers an investment idea, taking into account climate change, to plant olive plantations in Kherson region and produce olive oil.

This was announced by Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional State Administration, following a meeting with Sotiris A. Bouzeas, founder and CEO of TANAIS, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.

“This is an international project that promotes cooperation and investment in the fields of aerospace, technology, advanced manufacturing, and academia in the EU, the Middle East, North Africa, and Canada,” the statement said.

As noted, during the meeting, they discussed cooperation between Kherson region and the regions of Greece.

According to Prokudin, Sotiris shared successful examples of the implementation of his projects to develop maritime infrastructure and shipbuilding. He is confident that this experience can be shared in the Kherson region.

He also proposed an investment idea for the region – planting olive and peach plantations. Climate change, which has recently been observed in the south of Ukraine, dictates new rules for farmers. Traditional crops, which used to be profitable, are losing their business attractiveness due to lower yields in the new climate realities.

Therefore, as the head of the OVA emphasized, growing olives and producing olive oil is a business that can be profitable for Kherson farmers, create additional jobs and help develop the region’s economy.

Prokudin expressed his gratitude to Sotiris A. Buzeas for his willingness to help Kherson region and implement innovative initiatives in the region.
