In Bukovyna, a priest driving a truck while intoxicated caused an accident and later resisted police. The result of the breathalyser test showed that his blood alcohol level exceeded the permissible limit by almost 10 times. This was reported by the police of the Chernivtsi region, Komersant ukrainskyi reports
The incident occurred in the village of Molnytsia. A truck driven by a priest crashed into a road pillar.
After that, the driver left the scene and tried to escape. The police received a report of the accident and began searching for the truck. Patrol policemen, together with officers of the department No. 4 (Hertsa) of the Chernivtsi District Police Department, stopped the wanted KAMAZ on one of the region’s roads.
During the check of the 42-year-old driver, the police noticed signs of intoxication and offered to take a test on the spot. The breathalyser showed 1.94 ppm of alcohol in the blood.
When the police began to draw up administrative materials, the driver began to behave aggressively, tried to take possession of a firearm and inflicted bodily harm on a patrol policewoman. The woman was hospitalised.
The priest was detained. He was fined for driving while intoxicated and entered into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under the article on resistance to law enforcement officers.
