The Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to stop the Russian occupiers’ advance near Avdiivka. At the same time, the Russians partially control the villages of Berdychi and Tonenke.
This was announced by the spokesman for the Tavria operational and strategic group of troops, Dmytro Lykhoviy, during a telethon, Kommersant Ukrainian reports
Lykhoviy stressed that the situation in the Avdiivka sector has been stabilised and the advance of the Russian occupiers has been stopped.
At the same time, the Russians partially control the settlements of Berdychi and Tonenke. The defence forces continue to strike at the occupiers, causing the Russians to suffer significant losses in both equipment and manpower.
“The villages of Berdychi and Tonenke are partially controlled (by the Russian army – ed.), but the Defence Forces are doing their job, inflicting significant losses on the enemy, and the enemy’s advance has been stopped at this point,”
– said Lykhoviy.
As a reminder, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky said that on the night of Saturday, 17 February, the Ukrainian Armed Forces left their positions and withdrew from Avdiivka to prevent encirclement.
On 27 February, Lykhoviy noted that the Defence Forces had withdrawn from the small villages of Pivnichne and Stepove in the Avdiivka sector. The Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to stabilise the defence line in the areas of Tonenke, Orlivka and Berdychi villages in Donetsk region, according to Tavria military unit commander Oleksandr Tarnavskyi.
On 28 February, the Third Assault Brigade said it had retaken the village of Krasnohorivka in Donetsk region after Russian troops attacked the southeastern part of the village and entered it.
