MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS: Diesel tank damaged at occupied ZNPP

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has received a report of damage to a diesel tank at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant temporarily occupied by Russia.
This was reported by Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgiy Tykhyi, Komersant ukrainskyi reports.
According to him, the fuel spilled due to the damage to the tank would be enough to power the station’s emergency generators for 25 days.
“The Russians have not only stolen the plant, but are also unable to ensure its basic safety,” Tikhiy said.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman emphasized that this incident is a direct result of Russia’s reckless replacement of licensed Ukrainian experts with unqualified temporary Russian operatives.
He reiterated that ZNPP must be returned under Ukrainian control; this is the only way to prevent further incidents.

What does the Russian Foreign Ministry say?
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation has stated that Moscow will not return the occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP to Ukraine and will not transfer it to joint international control. the Russians claim that ZNPP is now a Russian nuclear facility that came under Moscow’s jurisdiction in October 2022 after an illegal referendum in Zaporizhzhia region.
US President Donald Trump said that it is necessary to determine who will own Zaporizhzhia NPP.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he had spoken with Trump about the future of the nuclear power plant. According to the head of state, he explained to the American president that in addition to the plant itself, Ukraine needs to regain control of the city of Enerhodar, where ZNPP employees and their families live.
