Nasirov’s mobilization canceled: the Armed Forces launched an investigation
10 April 08:01
The order to mobilize the former head of the State Fiscal Service, Roman Nasirov, who is accused of taking a bribe, has been canceled. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, ordered an internal investigation into his call-up. This was reported by the Military Law Enforcement Service, Komersant ukrainskyi reports
They said that Nasirov voluntarily expressed a desire to serve in the army, so on April 7 he was mobilized by order of the commander of the military unit A0139 (101st separate brigade of the General Staff named after Colonel Gennady Vorobyov), subordinated to the Main Command Center of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The brigade commander recognized the order as unlawful and canceled it. Nevertheless, an internal investigation is underway on the grounds of possible abuse of authority, the materials of which will be handed over to law enforcement.
At the same time, the Military Prosecutor’s Office emphasized that the units of the A0139 unit “have been directly involved in hostilities throughout the years of the Russian-Ukrainian war.” Online
“Zero tolerance for corruption is being formed in the Armed Forces. Therefore, any actions aimed at discrediting the Ukrainian army will be severely suppressed,” the VSP added.
As a reminder, the day before, Transparency International Ukraine learned that Nasirov had voluntarily mobilized to the Armed Forces during the court hearings.
According to Ukrinform, he was appointed to the position of sapper of the 1st engineer-sapper division of the 1st engineer-sapper platoon of the engineer-sapper company of the engineering support group with a salary of 2640 UAH
The court postponed consideration of this issue to gather information. The next hearing is scheduled for April 11.
Nasirov’s case is at the stage of court debates and is approaching the verdict. During the debate, the prosecutor has already spoken, and another defendant, Novikov, has already begun his speech. Nasirov himself and the defense attorneys were to speak in the debate, after which the defendants were to make their last statement, and then the court was to retire to the deliberation room to pass the verdict.
In May last year, the parliament allowed convicts to be released from serving their sentences in exchange for contract military service, but deprived top corrupt officials of this right. This demonstrates the legislative approach to the impossibility of “evading” punishment for grand corruption in exchange for military service.
As reported, according to the investigation, the former head of the SFS Roman Nasirov, with the assistance of his advisor, provided legal entities controlled by the owner of an agricultural holding with a VAT refund of more than UAH 3.2 billion in 2015-2016.
According to law enforcement, the former SFS head illegally received over UAH 722 million in his favor and in favor of third parties.
