Mobilization from the age of 18: the Cabinet of Ministers made an important statement

Mobilization issues, in particular from the age of 18, are resolved only at the level of Ukraine, and not under the influence of foreign states or international partners. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna, Komersant ukrainskyi reports citing Espresso.

Stefanishyna said that during her stay in Brussels, journalists asked about the mobilization age. She emphasized that this is not just a position or a statement, but a reality that needs to be clearly understood.

“The reality is that the decisions that are communicated, the decisions that are made by the state, by the commander-in-chief, are primarily a great responsibility for the life of every Ukrainian, so they cannot be dictated by statements of White House officials or anyone else. This is not a position, it is a reality,” Stefanishyna said.

She also emphasized the importance of proper support for the military and proper communication about international agreements. According to her, such statements by the White House representatives are an attempt to remove responsibility for previous agreements that were reached earlier.

“I personally perceive this as a desire to remove responsibility for the agreements that were reached earlier. That is why, of course, we are communicating this issue quite sharply,” Stefanishyna added.

As reported, on November 27, Reuters and AP, citing US officials, wrote that the administration of current US President Joe Biden is calling on Ukraine to revise its mobilization legislation to allow people from the age of 18 to be drafted into the army and to rapidly increase the number of armed forces.

In this regard, Presidential Communications Advisor Dmytro Lytvyn said that there is no point in lowering the mobilization age for Ukraine, as it does not receive the promised weapons from its partners on time.
