“Mission is Life: EVA and NGO “Zemlyachky” announce a collection for protective equipment for combat medics

On May 8, the Zemlyachki NGO together with the EVA chain of stores launched the Mission is Life charity campaign. Its goal is to raise 4 million hryvnias to provide equipment for 80 combat medics working in the hottest spots of the frontline.

Today, more than 70,000 women serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They perform combat missions on an equal footing with men – on the front line, in hospitals, in reconnaissance, and in sapper units. But so far, most army equipment – body armor, uniforms, shoes – is not designed for them. It is designed for men’s anatomy, larger size, and different body structure.

As a result, women have to adapt their uniforms on their own, layer things, and wear shoes that don’t fit. This is not just inconvenient. In combat conditions, such “details” become critical: they chafe, hinder movement, make quick evacuation impossible or even pose a danger to life. Anatomically unsuitable ammunition is a hidden but real cause of casualties. And before you demand resilience and results from a woman, you need to give her protection that really works.

“Medical workers are the ones who save lives under fire. They have to evacuate the wounded from the battlefield, work in field hospitals and trenches. Their work requires endurance, professionalism and instant decisions. But in order to save others, they must be protected themselves,” explains Ksenia Drahaniuk, co-founder of the NGO Zemlyachki.

Within the Mission is Life campaign, it is planned to raise UAH 4 million to purchase full-fledged equipment for 80 combat medics. Each set will include a bulletproof vest, helmet, military uniform, shoes, sleeping bag and mattress. The cost of each kit is 50,000 UAH. This equipment will be adapted to a woman’s body, which is crucial for the medics to work effectively and safely.

Anyone can join the collection by making a contribution of 1 UAH or more at the checkout in EVA stores or online on the campaign’s special page.

“For EVA, supporting the Ukrainian Defense Forces is one of the key areas. However, we also strive to implement initiatives that are in line with the values of our audience, especially women. The joint project with the NGO Zemlyachky is an opportunity not only to support our defenders, but also to express gratitude to the women who save lives every day. It combines care, empathy, and strength. It is a way to show that EVA is always there for you – in everyday moments and in the most difficult times,” says Oleksandra Hnatyk, Head of PR at EVA.

The campaign will run until July 31, 2025 inclusive. Each contribution is a real chance to save the life of a defender who saves others.
