Ministry of Finance and State Audit Service evacuated due to reports of mining
14 October 18:26In Kyiv, law enforcement officers are checking information about an alleged bomb threat at the headquarters of the State Audit Service at 4 Sahaidachnoho Street and the Ministry of Finance. This was reported by Komersant Ukrainian.
It is known that at around 1pm on 14 October, an anonymous report was received about a bomb threat at the head office of the state auditors. Law enforcement officers and bomb squad arrived at the scene.
The State Audit Service of Ukraine (SAU) is a central executive body coordinated by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and implementing state policy in the field of state financial control.
Over the past few years, the State Audit Service has uncovered a number of cases of misuse of public funds that resulted in high-profile resignations. Among other things, the audit of the Ministry of Defence by state auditors confirmed the fact that caused the greatest media coverage – the purchase of eggs at UAH 17 per piece.
According to the State Audit Service itself, in the first half of 2024 alone, it managed to return UAH 2.3 billion to the budget.
Meanwhile, Ekonomichna Pravda, citing its own sources, reported that the Ministry of Finance had been evacuated due to information about a mining threat.
“In connection with the report of mining, we ask you to leave the building of the Ministry of Finance for appropriate response measures,” the statement said.
It should be noted that on 14 October, there were reports of massive mining of buildings in different regions of Ukraine. In most cases, it was allegedly the mining of government agencies and educational institutions. In particular, law enforcement officers received reports of an explosive threat in the following regions and cities:
- Vinnytsia region;
- Zakarpattia region;
- Zaporizhzhia region;
- Khmelnytskyi region;
- Rivne region;
- Dnipropetrovska oblast;
- Kyiv;
- Lviv;
- Sumy;
- Mykolaiv.
