The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine has filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court to impose a sanction on the former head of the security service of fugitive President Yanukovych, namely the seizure of his assets. This was reported by Komersant ukrainskyi with reference to the Prosecutor General’s Office.
The name of the head of the security service has not been disclosed, but it is likely to be Vyacheslav Zanevsky.
The total amount of seized assets is over UAH 100 million.
This lawsuit provides for the nationalisation of a hotel complex in Bukovel, cash, land plots, corporate rights of the company, apartments and two parking spaces in Kyiv, a MERCEDES-BENS GL 550 car and a trailer.
The investigation established that the defendant, who headed the security service of the fugitive president in 2008-2012, left the territory controlled by Ukraine outside the official checkpoints during the armed aggression of Russia.
While in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk region and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, he assisted his son, an active employee of the Russian Federal Security Service, in searching for patriotic Ukrainian citizens who remained in the occupied territories.
Later, the defendant headed the security service of the governor of the Ulyanovsk region of the Russian Federation. He was put on the wanted list in Ukraine.
The indictment against the former head of the security service of the fugitive president on the facts of aiding the aggressor state, illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives is being considered by the Podilskyi District Court of Kyiv (Part 1 of Article 111-2, Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
